Frequently Asked Questions .
Can the Steel Mixer be used with any volume pedal?
Any volume pedal that works as a stand alone pedal with a steel guitar will also work with the Steel Mixer.
Will the Steel Mixer affect the sound I get when I use my pot based pedal?
In normal and pre-delay mode the Steel Mixer positions the volume pedal at the front of the signal chain. It does not buffer the volume pedal input, so any interaction between the steel guitar pickup and the volume pedal pot impedance should be maintained. However, it does buffer the volume pedal output; this means the normal associated problems with pot pedals and long cables (reduced treble) won't be an issue.
Can the Steel Mixer provide power to my Telonics or Hilton volume pedal?
Yes! The Telonics FP-100A pedal and the new generation 24V Hilton pedal have both been fully tested with the Steel Mixer. When ordering your Steel Mixer, ask for a Telonics power lead or Hilton 24V power lead (The Telonics lead has a locking DC plug, the Hilton lead has an ordinary DC plug). Older Hilton's with a fixed +/-12V power supply can be powered off the Steel Mixer. To do this the existing power supply must be removed and replaced with a plug. This work should be carried out by a technician.
Does the Steel Mixer use digital processing?
No. The Steel Mixer uses purely analogue circuitry to buffer and mix the signals. No microprocessors, no DSP's, just high quality, low noise op-amps.

Will I be able to repair my Steel Mixer in 15 years time?
I see no reason why not! The Steel Mixer PCB does not use surface mounted components. All the semiconductor components are world stock items and if discontinued will almost certainly have a usable equivalent.
